Jan Simon, Co-founder and Managing Partner Vancouver
For nearly two decades Jan worked in the financial industry including Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, and Salomon Brothers. Jan has invested in private and public markets, advised and raised public capital across multiple industries in Europe and North America.
His expertise is in the areas of: investment strategies, entrepreneurial finance and mergers and acquisitions for both European and North American markets. He has managed money in equities and fixed income as well as advised hedge funds in a variety of strategies.
In addition, since 2003 he has been teaching at graduate schools in Europe and North America. He is a Visiting Professor at IESE Business School, and a Finance Lecturer at the Haas School of Business, University of California Berkeley and at Beedie School of Business. Jan has designed and delivered Executive custom courses at IESE and INSEAD. He has won numerous Teaching Awards and The Economist rated him as one of the Top #20 Business School Professors in the world.
Jan holds a LL.B. and LL.M. from the Katholieke Universtiteit Leuven, an MBA from IESE Business School and earned his Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Essex. He holds the ICD.D Designation for corporate directors. He served the first battalion Para-Commando as well as NATO’s Special Intervention Forces. He holds both Commando A and Parachutist A military certificates.
Kristoff Puelinckx, Co-founder and Partner Barcelona
Kristoff is one of the founders of Delta Partners, an advisory and investment platform in telecoms, media and digital space with offices in Barcelona, Bogota, Dubai, Johannesburg, San Francisco, and Singapore. He is the founder of Tennium, a global tennis platform bringing together players, investors, brands and tournaments.
At Delta Partners Kristoff was overseeing the different activities of the firm and a board member. He was active on the investment side of its business, as a member of the Delta Partners Investment Committee and also as a board member of several portfolio companies. Additionally, Kristoff supported advisory client work across many geographies and across its different practices. Kristoff brings with him close to 20 years of experience in the telecoms, media and digital (TMD) industry, having worked and operated in over 30 countries across five continents.
Throughout his career, Kristoff has worked with a number of blue chip names in the telecoms and high tech industries, advising global and regional players across the developed as well as the emerging markets.
Kristoff’s areas of expertise include corporate strategy, international strategy and expansion, mergers and acquisitions, strategic portfolio and financial management, and organizational design.
Prior to founding Delta Partners and Tennium, Kristoff was one of the founding partners for Oliver Wyman (then DiamondCluster) in Dubai and prior to his move to Dubai, he was a partner at Oliver Wyman in the Barcelona and London offices focusing on the TMD sector. His previous experiences also included holding a succession of positions at Ernst & Young in New York and London.
Kristoff holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from the University of Gent, Belgium and an MBA from IESE Business School and the Haas Business School in Berkeley, California.

Rob Johnson, Advisory Board Member Paris
Rob Johnson is a Visiting Professor in the Entrepreneurship Department at IESE Business School. He is a successful entrepreneur and venture capital investor. From 1990 he was on the faculty of London Business School for ten years, where he designed and taught a course on entrepreneurial finance and founded the European Business Plan of the Year Competition. He also founded the International Search Fund Center at IESE.
He has served as a director, and in several cases as chairman, of many private companies and has been actively involved in those companies from their early financings through to successful trade sales and IPOs. Rob serves on the advisory board of Palamon Capital Partners in London, the investment committee of the Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar Development Fund, and the boards of several search fund companies. His areas of specialization include financing new ventures, the private equity industry, and search funds.
Rob holds a Bachelor of Arts from Davidson College, a Master in Christianity and Interreligious Dialogue from the University of London and an MBA from the Darden School, University of Virginia.
Simon Webster, Advisory Board Member London
Simon is an investor and entrepreneur who raised the first search fund outside of the USA. Through the search fund model, he acquired RSL in 1995 and became its CEO. Over a 10-year period Simon expanded the organization organically as well as through acquisition, resulting in a quasi-tenfold sales growth. He led the sale of the business in 2005 and remained CEO until 2007. He achieved top quartile returns for his investors.
Simon is a passionate believer in the search fund model. He has helped to expand knowledge of the model through activities at London Business School, INSEAD and IESE. Simon is now a mentor to search funders as well as being and investor with over 20 search fund investments.
Simon is also Cofounder and Partner of Ivy Partners - a privately held investment firm that seeks to acquire and actively manage established private companies in the United Kingdom. He is the Chairman of R Link Ltd (trading as R Healthcare) and Director of ESMS Global Limited (a Contract Research Organisation servicing the pharmaceutical secor).
Fares Boulos, Senior Adviser Vancouver
Fares is Affiliated Professor of Practice in Strategy at INSEAD where he has taught the Core Strategy course in the MBA and GEMBA programs and the Blue Ocean Strategy in various executive education programs. Fares serves on the Advisory Board of NovoBind, a Vancouver-based Ag-Tech company and served on the Dean’s Advisory Board at Rotman from 2003-2013. Prior to joining INSEAD, Fares held several senior positions in the investment industry including Director of Research for Wood Gundy, and Portfolio Manager for Jarislowsky Fraser. Before entering the investment world, Fares spent five years as a senior consultant with The Canada Consulting Group, a strategy-consulting firm that has since merged with The Boston Consulting Group. He holds a B.Sc. from the University of Toronto and an MBA from the Rotman School of Management.
Bram Cool, Senior Adviser Amsterdam
Bram Cool is the CEO and investor of Ezwim (www.ezwim.com), a SaaS provider and global leader in the Telecom Expense Management industry. Ezwim is a fast growing scale-up venture based out of The Netherlands that provides services in 50 countries worldwide. With a group of co-investors, Bram acquired Ezwim in 2010. Prior to Ezwim, Bram was an investment banker at Morgan Stanley specializing in M&A. Before joining Morgan Stanley, Bram was responsible for corporate development at Verizon Business. Bram holds an MBA from IESE Business School and a Bachelor’s in Small Business Management from Haarlem Business School.
Antonio Davila, Senior Adviser Barcelona
Antonio is Professor of Entrepreneurship and Accounting and holder of the SEAT Chair of Innovation at IESE. His teaching and research interests focus on management systems in entrepreneurial firms, new product development and innovation management, and performance measurement. In 2013, 2014 and 2016, he was visiting professor at the Harvard Business School teaching in the MBA program. From 1999 to 2006, he was faculty member at Stanford University's Graduate School of Business, where he still teaches. Antonio is co-author of Sports Business Management (2015), The Innovation Paradox (2015), Malea Fashion District (2012) Making Innovation Work (2006) and Performance Measurement and Management Control Systems to Implement Strategy (2000). He has also edited The Creative Enterprise (2007). Antonio has led several consulting projects in management consulting, He earned his doctorate from Harvard Business School and his MBA from IESE Business School.
John Erceg, Senior Adviser Barcelona
John is the founder of BudgetPlaces.com and owner at hotelcottonhouse.com and hotelpraktikbakery.com. John entered the accommodation sector by buying and renovating properties in Barcelona before moving into the role of online intermediary. He created the "30€ per night" concept, and focused Budgetplaces on recruiting independent, family-run, unique and affordable places to stay. Before creating Budgetplaces, John was the Worldwide Market Development Manager for Hewlett Packard large format printers. He holds a B.B.A from the University of Houston, and an MBA from IESE Business School.
Tom Hendrickx, Senior Adviser Antwerp
Tom is a serial entrepreneur and investor. He bought his first company, Sels, at the age of 28. The company is renowned for building and renovating luxury homes. After selling Sels, Tom became an active investor with an affinity for Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition and Search Funds. His investments include a SAAS supplier, a coffee-roaster, a temporary jobs supplier, a field services company, a maritime catering supplier and a waste recycling firm.
Tom is a hands-on investor; critical yet enthusiastic, and finds pleasure in assisting the next generation of entrepreneurs and business leaders. He holds a Master’s degree in applied economical sciences from the University of Antwerp and studied Board Effectiveness at Guberna, Ghent.
George Jankovic, Senior Adviser Bangkok
George is a well-known serial entrepreneur, investor and executive who grew NutriSystem, Inc. from $20 million in revenues to over $600 million, with pre-tax profits over $100 million, and grew its market capitalization from $18 million to $2.5 billion. He was among the first on-line entrepreneurs with RF Globalnet (one of the most successful B2B websites in the mid-to-late 1990s) and VerticalNet (famous for being one of the top ten IPOs of all time). George is passionate about supporting and mentoring entrepreneurs and search funders worldwide. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Belgrade and a MSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Fred Krawchuk, Senior Adviser San Francisco
Fred is an Adjunct to the RAND Corporation responsible for strategic planning, a Senior Strategic Consultant at Aperio International and Senior Lecturer in Operations at IESE Business School. He also serves as an Advisory Board member to the Coming Home Project. Fred is a retired Army Colonel who was the Director, Commander’s Initiative Group in Afghanistan and the Deputy Director, Joint Interagency Force in Iraq. Fred has been leading high-risk operations around the globe including peacekeeping in the Balkans, special operations in Latin America and Southeast Asia, and counterinsurgency in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was the first Special Forces officer to be awarded the George C. Marshall Fellowship at the U.S. Department of State. He is an Olmsted Scholar and General MacArthur Leadership Award Winner. He is a West Point graduate, holds an MBA from IESE Business School and an MPA from Harvard University.
Tobias Raeber, Senior Adviser London & Zurich
Tobias and his business partner successfully raised the first search fund in Switzerland/South Germany in 2013. Prior to this, he worked in management consulting for Oliver Wyman, in real-estate as well as in hospitality. In early 2015, he and his partner acquired Herchenbach Industrial Warehouses. Until his partial exit in early 2019, the business doubled both revenue and EBITDA realizing outstanding returns for investors during his tenure as CEO.
Today, Tobias is committed to building businesses in an executive or non-executive capacity, is a mentor to entrepreneurs as well as an active investor in various areas. He has been a guest speaker at INSEAD, LBS, IESE and Judge (Cambridge) on Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition (ETA) and Search Funds. Tobias was born in Switzerland, holds a MSc in Economics from Bocconi University, and a BSc from Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL).
Marc Sachon, Senior Adviser Barcelona
Marc is professor of Production, Technology and Operations Management at IESE Business School. His main areas of interest are operations strategy, supply chain management and manufacturing. His research and teaching focuses on the coherence between business strategy and operations strategy, especially applied to structural change in verticals: tectonic change in the automotive industry, the digitalization of retail, as well as industry 4.0. As a consultant, Marc has been involved in projects in different industries, ranging from airlines, automotive, apparel, fashion and FMCG to logistics, pharma and utilities. He holds a Ph.D. in industrial engineering and engineering management from Stanford University; an MBA from IESE Business School and a master in aerospace technology from the University of Stuttgart.
Ritz Steytler, Senior Adviser London
Ritz Steytler is a technology entrepreneur and investor. Formerly a management consultant with IBM and Accenture, he has over 20 years experience in the transformation and growth of complex multinational businesses including Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Marks and Spencer, Shell, Virgin Media, Cable & Wireless, and Legal and General. In May 2011, he led the acquisition of omni-channel payment processor PXP by Abacus Partners, a UK-based search fund that he founded in 2008. Following this investment, he served as CEO and Board Director of PXP up to its acquisition by Kalixa in May 2014, and subsequently as COO and Board Director of Kalixa until October 2015. Ritz holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Computer Science from Stellenbosch University and an MBA with Distinction from London Business School.
Carlos Villa, Senior Adviser Bogota
Carlos is the CEO and Cofounder of buhoTM Clarity for Leaders and Cofounder and board member of logisfashion. In 1996, Carlos and two friends founded logisfashion, a logistics company focusing on the textile and fashion industry. Currently, logisfashion has a team of over 500 professionals in eight logistics centers in Spain, Chile, Mexico, Panama, USA and China, and has a total area of more than 150.000 m2. In 2008 Carlos cofounded buhoTM, a technology platform that measures the efficiency and trends in company communication worldwide. Carlos holds a B.E. in Industrial Engineering from Universidad de los Andes and an MBA from IESE Business School.
Jorge Villarreal, Senior Adviser Mexico City
Jorge is the founder and CEO of Elara Communications and brings over 20 years of experience in the satellite operators industry. He was nominated for ‘Visionary Executive of the Year’ in 2013 by Satcon and was named ‘Teleport Executive of the Year’ by the WTA in 2015. Elara Communications is the leading provider of telecommunication and technology services in Mexico and Latin America. For the last three consecutive years it has held a top 20 position in the worldwide ranking of independent teleports. Jorge holds a B.E. in Computer Science from ITAM and an MBA for IESE Business School.
